Kurt Johannessen (b.1960 in Bergen, Norway, lives and works in Bergen) is a graduate of Slade School of Fine Art, London, UK, the Iceland Academy of the Arts, Reykjavik, Iceland, and the National Academy of the Arts, Bergen, Norway. He works mainly with performance and installation art, and is known for producing minimalist and poetic works with a touch of humor. Johannessen have performed at festivals and venues in Finland, Iceland, Belarus, Poland, Ireland, Germany, France, USA, Mexico, Indonesia, China and Japan, among others. He has also produced more than sixty books, many of them translated into English. The books vary from just one sentence to short stories or just pictures.
