INTERNATIONAL SUPPORT
OCA is currently accepting applications for the First Quarter Application Review for International Support. Forms are due by 1 February 2012. Applications are accepted from Norwegian artists, international artists residing in Norway and non-profit entities. Priority is given to exhibitions taking place in key international art institutions and project spaces. Support is also extended to solo exhibitions and group exhibitions initiated by international curators as well as to Norwegian art professionals organising exhibitions and projects abroad.

The objective for support is to foster the professional consideration and exhibition of Norwegian art abroad, innovative artistic production, and a creative process of dialogue and collaboration within the spectrum of contemporary cultural practice. OCA's International Support Programme aims to enable international institutions and international curators to work more comprehensively and thoroughly with individual artists, art groups and professionals to convey the critical initiatives behind their production. OCA finds it important to provide artists, art professionals, curators, and cultural producers the possibility to network professionally within the international arts community.


INTERNATIONAL RESIDENCIES
OCA provides International Residencies for Norwegian artists, curators and critics in a number of international venues. The upcoming 1 February 2012 deadline applies to Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Capacete Residency Programme and ISCP New York City. Click here to read more about OCA's International Residency Programmes.

Künstlerhaus Bethanien
In 2012-13 OCA offers a twelve-month residency programme for an artist, at the International Studio Programme Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin, from 1 December 2012 until 15 November 2013. Applications are accepted from Norwegian artists and international artists residing in Norway. Please notice that the residency is not available for BA or MA students. Applications will be assessed by an International Jury appointed by OCA, together with a representative from Künstlerhaus Bethanien. Click here to read more about Künstlerhaus Bethanien.

Capacete Residency Programme
In 2012 OCA offers a residency programme for an artist, an independent curator, a cultural producer or an independent art critic at Capacete, a forum and interdisciplinary project operating in Brazil since 1997. The duration of the programme is four months between Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, including two-month stays in each city. Applications are accepted from Norwegian artists and international artists residing in Norway. Please notice that the residency is not available for BA or MA students. ISCP New York City
In collaboration with the American Scandinavian Foundation, OCA offers two studio grants – one for a Norwegian artist and one for a Norwegian curator – at the International Studio and Curatorial Program (ISCP) in New York City. The artist residency has the duration of one year, from 1 September 2012 until 15 August 2013. The Curatorial residency has the duration of 3 months, from 1 September until 30 November 2012. Only Norwegian citizens are eligible for these grants. Please notice that the residency is not available for BA or MA students. The first one from 1 April until 31 May 2012 and the second from 1 September until 31 October 2012. Applicants must be Norwegian citizens, or live and work in Norway. Please notice that residency is not available for BA or MA students. The applications will be accessed by an International Jury appointed by OCA. Wiels Residency Programme  *NEW DEADLINE*
In 2012 OCA offers a residency programme for an artist, at WIELS Contemporary Art Centre in Brussels, Belgium. The duration of the programme is nine months, from 1 April until 31 December 2012. Applications are accepted from Norwegian artists and international artists residing in Norway. The programme is designed for artists who have already elaborated a specific and promising aesthetic language but seek artistic, theoretical and professional support in order to develop their practice. Please notice that the residency is not available for BA or MA students. Applications will be assessed by an International Jury appointed by OCA, together with a representative from WIELS Contemporary Art Centre. OCA ANNOUNCES UPCOMING NORWEGIAN RESIDENTS AT THE INTERNATIONAL STUDIO AND CURATORIAL PROGRAMME (ISCP) IN NEW YORK CITY

In collaboration with the American Scandinavian Foundation, OCA offers two studio grants - one for a Norwegian artist and one for a Norwegian curator - at the International Studio and Curatorial Program (ISCP) in New York City.

The upcoming resident for the Studio Programme is artist Øystein Aasan. During his residency at ISCP, Aasan plans to further develop his work with a series of ongoing projects investigating tensions and overlaps between language and architecture. In parallel to this the artist will initiate a new collaborative project that will culminate in a publication and public presentation, departing from a trip to the Appalachian mountains.

The upcoming resident for the Curatorial Programme is critic, writer and curator Peter Amdam. Amdam’s research and interests unfold across different aspects of contemporary art and culture. As part of his residency Amdam plans to deepen his ongoing dialogue with artists based in New York, exploring possibilities for collaboration and exchange, as well as concentrating on his critical, theoretical and writing practices.

About the residents
Øystein Aasan (b. 1977, Kristiansand, Norway) received his education at the National Academy of the Arts, Oslo. He has since exhibited in a number of venues both on a national and international level, such as the Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art, Oslo, Norway; Rogaland Art Center, Stavanger, Norway; Stenersen Museum, Oslo, Norway; Sørlandets Art Museum, Kristiansand, Norway; Sparwasser HQ, Berlin, Germany; Kunstverein Arnsberg, Arnsberg, Germany and La Vitrine, Paris, France. He has also published texts in magazines such as Spike Art Quarterly, Neue Review, Umelec, Billedkunst and Kunstkritikk.no.

Peter Amdam (b.1971, Molde, Norway, Based in Oslo, Norway) is an Oslo-based critic, writer and curator. He has written on contemporary art, literature and fashion, with a specific interest in where art intersects with certain poststructuralist and contemporary theories. He is also an occasional collaborator of the artist Matias Faldbakken. Amdam has a diverse background that includes work in fashion magazines and art journals and he is a well-known figure in the hardcore music scene.

Residency Berlin Mitte, Berlin, Germany

Victoria Pihl Lind, Artist

OCA offers four residencies for curators, critics and artists in Berlin. The residency provides a fully furnished apartment located at Kunst-Werke, Institute for Contemporary Art, in the Mitte area. The upcoming resident for the months of September/October 2011 is artist Victoria Pihl Lind. Through her recent production, Lind investigates the performative and text-image relation in video and performance. During her stay in Berlin the artist plans to conduct further research on issues related to politics and universalism in connection to an ongoing project with a specific emphasis on the concept of ‘European universalism’.

About the artist
Victoria Pihl Lind (b.1981 in Oslo, Norway, based in Oslo, Norway) graduated with a MA degree from the National Academy of Art in Oslo in 2008, and a BA from Chelsea College of Art in London. Lind works with a variety of media such as video, text, photography and performance. Recent group shows include, 'HOLOGHOST, Performance in Radom city', National Center for Sculpture, Oronsko, Poland, and 'Endring og stillstand – Hagen som materiale og motiv i kunsten' at Galleri F15, Moss, Norway. In 2009 and 2010, Lind co-edited the issues Dreampolitics (1-2, 2009) and On Contemporary art / Om Samtidskunst (1-2, 2010) of UKS-Forum Magazine for Contemporary Art.
