OCA is currently accepting applications for the Third Quarter
Application Review for International
Support. Forms are due on 1 September
2011. Applications are accepted from Norwegian artists,
international artists residing in Norway and non-profit entities.
Support is also extended to solo exhibitions and group exhibitions
initiated by international curators as well as to Norwegian art
professionals organising exhibitions and projects abroad.

State of Things' as the Norwegian representation at La Biennale
di Venezia, inaugurated in June 2011 with lectures by Jacques
Rancière, Leo Bersani, Vandana Shiva, Jan Egeland, Fawaz Gergez and

Christoph Menke
On Wednesday, 28 September at 19:00, OCA, in
cooperation with the Goethe Institut in Oslo and dOCUMENTA (13),
will host a lecture by the German philosopher Christoph Menke on
the subject of aesthetic freedom.

The Nasreen Mohamedi Exhibition 'Notes
- Reflection on Indian Modernism (Part 1)' initiated by OCA in
2009, closed at the Wiels Contemporary Art
Centre, Brussels, Belgium on Sunday 14 August. After the
opening at OCA on 6 March 2009, the exhibition has been presented
in a number of venues in the period 2009-2011, including
Milton Keynes Gallery, Milton Keynes, UK;
Lunds Kunsthall, Lund, Sweden; Kunsthalle
Basel, Basel, Switzerland; Culturgest,
Lisbon, Portugal and The Academy of Visual Art
Leipzig, Leipzig, Germany. The exhibition, curated by
Suman Gopinath and Grant Watson, brought together for the first
time Mohamedi's rarely seen drawings, paintings and photographs
with unique archival material from her studio.

Elmgreen & Dragset to participate within
'Rewriting Worlds'
4th Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art

Moscow, Russia
23 September – 30 October 2011
Elmgreen
& Dragset have been invited by the 4th Moscow Biennale of
Contemporary Art to restage their project Celebrity — The
One & The Many (2010) originally produced for an
exhibition at ZKM | Museum of Contemporary Art, Karlsruhe,
Germany. Titled Rewriting Worlds, the exhibition
explores the notion that 'art, as a sphere of human activities,
gives individual artists the chance to convert their ideas into
reality and "re-write" the world by means of their works'.

Rein Wolfs, curator and artistic director of Kunsthalle Fridericianum,
Kassel, Germany, has invited Gardar Eide
Einarsson to present the solo exhibition 'Power Has a
Fragrance', which will be on view until 11 September
2011. According to the curator, 'Gardar Eide Einarsson
creates a scenario that illustrates social conflicts between
individuals and the societies in which they live and that focuses
on authority and alienation'. The exhibition is a
collaborative project between the Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern
Art, Oslo, Norway; the Reykjavik Art Museum, Reykjavik, Iceland;
Bonniers Konsthall, Stockholm, Sweden; and Kunsthalle
Fridericianum, Kassel, Germany, has been presented at these
institutions throughout 2010 and 2011. For the exhibition in
Kassel, Gardar Eide Einarsson has produced a new billboard
installation specially created for this venue.

The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA),
New York, NY, USA, has invited Sissel Tolaas to
participate in the group exhibition 'Talk
to Me: Design and the Communication between People and
Objects' on view through 7 November
2011. The artist will contribute with her work Berlin,
City Smell Research (2004). Tolaas has done extensive research
on the local smell identity of four different areas of Berlin. She
states that 'the four individual areas were carefully analysed for
characteristics in aspect of a local smell identity for each site'.
Other participating artists include Mayo Nissen, Electronic Ink,
Evan Roth, Emily Read and Chen Hsu. Curator: Paola Anton Elli,

Capacete, OCA partner and
interdisciplinary project space located in Rio de Janeiro and São
Paulo, Brazil, is calling for applications to the position of
director for the Research Residency Program. The candidate should
have prior experiences in residency programmes or in the production
of projects that take long terms participation of professionals.

The programme is designed for students in art or cinema, young
exhibition curators or art critics who wish to extend their
training with a year of experimentation around the interplay of
issues between document and contemporary art. The year will
conclude with an event: a cycle of projections, exhibition,
publication, seminar, conference and meetings whose form will be
decided on by each group. Candidates must hold a diploma,
equivalent to High School graduation certificates and at least five
years of study in higher education from a national or international
institution. Application deadline: 10 September
2011.

The Japan Media Arts Festival is organised by the Agency for
Cultural Affairs, with the aim of promoting the creation and
development of media arts (comic, animation, game and media
art). The call is for entries in four divisions, Art,
Entertainment, Animation and Manga, and is open to applications
from anywhere in the world. The Agency will award a Grand Prize and
a number of other awards at the festival, and the winning works
will also be exhibited. Application deadline: 22 September

Artists are invited to submit proposals for research projects
for the coming year in the Fine Art department of the Jan van Eyck
Academie, Maastricht, the Netherlands. The Academie is an institute
for research and production in the fields of fine art, design and
theory. The Fine Art department offers a space for experimentation,
production, reflection and debate. Deadline for submissions is
