The Artist File

The Office for Contemporary Art Norway holds ever developing Artist File that includes a selection of portfolios of Norwegian artists either living or working in Norway or internationally. It is by no means intended to be the sole source of information for research purposes and is merely, one of the many tools, referred to in order to provide background on the production tendences, historical tendencies, etc. by Norwegian artists. As it is not within the mandate of OCA to hold an Artist File, it is very much emphasized that each artist participating in the file attend to the respective portfolio regularly. If not updated, the portfolios will be removed from circulation. Please also let it be known that participation within the Artist File does not in any way infer "membership" to OCA. OCA does not hold a membership programme and its facilities and resources are not subject to any kind of membership programme.

In general, the file is by invitation although all artists are free to send in portfolios. Review of portfolios takes place once a year by a Norwegian/international jury. Please note that the jury's decisions are final, and materials will not be returned after review.

The Porfolio:

Each individual portfolio is to be provided within the specific schematic: One CD with 10 images representing your work, including one A4 page of text describing the images together with a CV in PDF format. The description and the CV should also be sent as prints. If video works are to be included, please do so on separate CD/DVD. Additional catalogues and booklets relating to your work.

KIK and UKS:

OCA suggests that those interested also visit the other comprehensive artist archives available in Norway — these include the Norwegian Art Information Center (KIK) as a national documentation archive and information agency for contemporary art, photography, and craft in addition to the artist archive made available by Young Artist Society (UKS).
