Ane Graff presents 'Sliding', a solo exhibition at Künstlerhaus Bethanien
Opening: Thursday, 13 August 2009 / 19:00
Exhibition dates: 14–30 August 2009
Combining an interest in the still life as a genre with scientific research as a principle of verification, Ane Graff's works examine the poetics of natural sciences. Her meticulous pencil drawings of surfaces and structures of organic matter offer detailed observations of bird's feathers, divots of turf, tree branches, the ramification of silver or the uneven and specked surfaces of rocks. With 'Sliding', Graff continues her previous examinations of the concepts of 'molecular diffusion' and 'particle decay', the gradual intermixing and instability of materials that provoke transformation and dilapidation. As the title of the exhibition suggests, the drawings and sculptures in 'Sliding' offer observations on particle transformation as it is expressed in the miniscule changes of organic structures.
Ane Graff holds a fellowship from OCA as part of its International Studio Program at the Künstlerhaus Bethanien.
