In 2020 OCA offers a three-month residency at Capacete from 1 September to 30 November. Applications are accepted from Norwegian artists, curators, critics and writers, as well as international artists, curators, critics and writers based in Norway. Please notice that the residency is not available for BA or MA students. This is a residency for research and to connect with the local art scene, and therefore it is not studio based. The resident will be accommodated in a shared apartment five minutes’ walk from the Capacete Residency Center. This is a vibrant meeting place with a library of books and films, and where they also organise public talks, seminars and workshops. They have a small exhibition space and the staff is fully engaged and physically present. Capacete has been part of the São Paulo Biennale four times and can also help the resident in facilitating his/her visits to the biennale.
The residency host will provide the resident with the timely information, guidance and support required to carry out his/her intended research throughout the full stay. During an initial meeting with the residency organiser at Capacete, a general outline of the stay will be drafted and any travels and meetings with relevant people and/or organisations will be set up. Likewise, the resident will have the opportunity to present his/her work within the structure of the programme defined by Capacete as well as within any public event. The residency host will to its best efforts help the resident to establish a new network by introducing and creating contact with curators, critics and other relevant professionals known to them. Additionally, Capacete aims to integrate and introduce visiting artists to the local community.
