Co-convener of Bergen Assembly 2019, Iris Dressler, and curator Nora Heidorn will discuss the redistribution of curatorial agency that is a central part of the 2019-edition of Bergen Assembly. Titled «Actually, the Dead Are Not Dead» this year’s Bergen Assembly departs from the concept assembly itself, which is critically examined both in terms of its political dimensions and aesthetic practices with a broad public programme and a multi-sited exhibition.
In the conversation they will also focus on Heidorn’s contribution to Bergen Assembly 2019 entitled "Sick and Desiring". Set against our present culture that fetishises wellbeing and productivity, the project is informed by the decimation of infrastructures of care in contexts impacted by neoliberal policies and austerity measures and draw on activism, histories of radical health care movements and feminist group work techniques.
